Commercial form of a promissory note. There is an engraved "frame" 1/8" from the edge on all four sides. There is a decorated space in the upper left corner for the amount: $61.86, and below that is an oval with a picture of a young girl with dark hair and a medieval costume with a hand to her brow as if she were thinking hard. "Baltimore" is scratched out and Miles Town written in next to the date of June 12, 1876. Z. Y. Dyson and Mary Jane Dyson promised to pay P. Zell the above amount within one year. Z.Y. Dyson made his mark, but it is not clear that Mary signed in any way. John C. Hurry witnessed this transaction. This note was later turned over to James R. Alvey for collection.Collection
