3 1/4"h x 5 3/8"w postcard of a black and white photo of the Washington, Brandywine and Point Lookout Railroad locomotive road number 5 at Brandywine, Md. on September 1, 1934.
The card was made as a souvenir of the Baltimore, Md. Convention of the National Railway Historical Society. The locomotive had a catwalk on its nose with a cowcatcher and coupling equipment underneath. There was also a ladder sticking up in the air that may have been used to climb onto the top of whatever was coupled in front. There was a large light on the top of the engine with an illuminated "5" on the side panel. Next was a smokestack, then a bell in a harness, then three domes of varying size. There was just one window in the cab and a large coal car coupled in back. There was a pair of small wheels in front, three pairs of driving wheels, and four pairs of wheels under the coal car. The name of the railroad was partly visible on the coal car, with "No.5" underneath that. A two and a half story house was behind the equipment.
Verso of the card: It was divided in half in the usual way. Bruce D. False took credit for the photo. Caption: "Souvenir of Baltimore, Md.
