8" x 10" black and white portrait orientation photo of the east end of Waterloo near Colton's Point. The Maryland Historical Trust Inventory of Historic Sites in Southern Maryland says this house burned in 1960. The clapboard house had a huge brick double chimney with a large pent between the stacks. There was an indentation in the brick just about at the roofline and then the stacks were away from the house. The pent was covered with shingles and there was flashing at the intersection of the pent roof and the chimneys. There was a small window in the center of the pent at the second floor level and another six light window on the first floor. This view shows clear evidence of another roof for a single story addition [kitchen?] that encompassed the right half of the chimney. The addition's end wall formed by the chimney was painted white, but rising damp had compromised that finish for three or four feet from the ground. There was a passageway into the house just to the right of the chimney. There was a large window on the opposite side of the chimney, as well as large second floor windows on each side of the chimney. On the third floor, the two windows were between the stacks. Most of the glazing was gone and the house appeared to be in a derelict condition. Trash littered the yard.
