8"h x 10"w black and white photo of Western Maryland Railroad station in Luke, Maryland on a summer day. A passenger train was visible behind the station. A road passed the station and train tracks ran on either side of the small rectangular building. Both people and automobiles were trying to get from here to there Ten men in suits were headed for the train; this was evidently a commuter town. A conductor and a porter were standing at a corner of the station watching the men approach. The station was a small rectangular building that looked to be about the same size as a schoolhouse. It had a metal or tar paper gable roof. The image shows one gable end with two narrow windows and the "Luke" sign board. There was also a sign for Railway Express. On the visible long side there was a large freight door positioned high above the ground so a truck could back up to it, a group of three windows, and then a low window for managing the paperwork with the truck driver. The station was hedged around with roads and town buildings; the entire town appears to have been shoehorned in between mountains.
