2005.003.0027Description
2 11/16"h x 4 9/16"w landscape orientation black and white photo of part of the Charlotte Hall School that included the White House on the right. This photo was removed from a scrapbook. The photographer was high up in the barracks building. The photo showed one long side and a gable end of the white story and a half building with a dark gambrel roof and an inside end chimney on each end. On the long side of the building was a large central dormer with one window; there were flanking small dormers. There was a center entry door under a shed roof porch with its floor supported on piers and stairs on each side. There were two tall narrow six over six windows on each side of the door. A small basement window was at each end of the elevation. On the gable end, there were two windows on the second floor and two windows on the first floor. There was a sidewalk to each side of the building. There was a large field on the left, crisscrossed by paths. There were white fences at the far edge of the field. Someone used a green pen to point out Professor Coad's house and the post office. Dent Chapel may have been in the trees on the far left. On the lower "frame" of the photo in green ink, "View from Barracks."
