2005.003.0028Description
2 3/4"h x 4 3/8"w landscape orientation sepia tone photo of part of the Charlotte Hall School that included the White House. This photo was removed from a scrapbook. The photographer was high up in the barracks building, looking out over a snow scene. The photo showed one long side and a gable end of the white story and a half building with a dark gambrel roof and an inside end chimney on each end. On the long side of the building was a large central dormer with one window; there were flanking small dormers. There was a center entry door under a shed roof porch with its floor supported on piers and stairs on each side. There were two tall narrow six over six windows on each side of the door. On the gable end, there were two windows on the second floor and two windows on the first floor. There was a large field on the left. There were barely visible fences at the far edge of the field. Professor Coad's house and the post office were on the far side of the field. One young man was walking in the tracks left by a passing vehicle. On the lower "frame" of the photo in green ink, "Snow scene."
