Scan of a black and white photo of Willie Wise's store at Route 5 and Route 244 in 1915. The image is 7 3/4"h x 9 3/4"w on an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet.
The shake-roofed building has a gable roof with attached porch on the long side that wraps around the gable end. The building is one and half stories. An open door is visible in the gable end on the second floor. The porch is elevated three steps above the ground and has 4 visible bays and one bay on the narrow end. The center door and two twelve light windows are visible on the front. There are large shutters that could cover the entire window hung on the building. There is a sign next to the door--some kind of advertising sign that is likely metal. Five men stand in the left bay of the porch: L-R Dr. Lynch, an unknown male, Willie Wise, Herbert Wise, James C. Wise. On the ground, next to a buggy may be Harry. Dr. Lynch has a hand on what is probably his horse that is hitched to a buggy. The horse is a dark color with white "socks" on his rear feet. The buggy has a top and side curtains in place. The rear wheel is slightly larger than the front wheel. The whip is visible. Harry's buggy does not have side curtains in place and appears to have larger wheels. Dr. Lynch is wearing a long light colored coat--probably a duster. Dr. Lynch, the unknown man, and Harry are wearing hats. The store-keepers are bare-headed. There are a few chickens scavenging in the yard. A large tree is on the left. Small buildings are visible on a rise behind the store. I do not know who identified the men.Collection
