Name/Title
Wreck of the Marion Steam Crawler Crane 2Entry/Object ID
2019.009.0012Description
8"h x 10"w black and white photo of a steam crawler crane upside down in the Zekiah Swamp. The Navy contracted with the James McGraw Company to repair and upgrade the existing track from Brandywine to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. When the heavy crane was on one of the bridges over the swamp, something failed and the crane toppled over. It must have been a terrible job getting it back upright. This view looked along the new track with the crane lying on the right. The caption says this was looking south.
