The cover is "leather" of a dark brown, washed with green. The back cover is plain, except for a tiny hallmark in the lower right corner. The spine has a 1 7/8" title band located 1 7/8" below the top edge, then a 6" open space, followed by a 1/2" band carrying the date of the book. The print in the title band "Ye Domesday Booke" is slightly bronzed and then overlaid with green. The date, 1928, is much the same. The front cover is very elaborate. Each corner has a 3 1/2" shield with a scalloped edge facing the interior of the space. There is a sunburst style flower in the center of each shield and a random pattern of raised circles that give the effect of studs. In each shield one "stud" is depressed rather than raised. There is a band of plain background about 1 1/2" wide surrounding the center "shield" of a diamond shape 6 5/8" long by 5 1/2" wide. In each corner is a sunburst flower and "studs" are scattered about. 2 of the studs are depressed. The text "Ye Domesday Booke" is in the center of the diamond. The corner and center decorations are bronze with a light green wash. The whole gives the appearance of great weight. The interior is the usual heavy coated paper and there are photographs galore and short histories of the university, the classes, events, etc. Mr. Beitzell graduated with a B.F.S., bachelor's degree in the School of Foreign Service in this class of 1928.Collection
