Description

Trumpet-shaped vase with an octagonal paneled body, splayed foot; painted in blue with a double line at the rim, a wide floral and lapette border around the neck; a chinoiserie landscape with flowering plants, birds, and a latticework fence around the body; and a gadroon border around the foot. Vases like this would have come either in a pair or as part of a garniture, which is a set of vases, usually consisting of an odd number of alternating beaker vases and covered jars. They were designed to be displayed on mantels or on top of furniture.
