This black and white photograph is of eleven men pulling on a rope. They are on the beach and the coastal hills are in the background. The occasion is the annual 4th of July tug of war between Stinson Beach and Bolinas. At the back of the line is a woman's face. She is the wife of the man whose head is visible above her and to the right. He is Jim Silvia, who was head of the lifeguards at that time. Next to Jim Silvia's head the upper part of a head with short hair and glasses is visible. This is Ben Collier. In front of them is a man (Don Felix) in shorts and a striped tank top and dark glasses. To his right is Elmer Collet facing the camera and next to him also facing the camera is a dark haired man, Mick Beatty. The rest of the men cannot be positively identified except for the man in a cowboy hat who is Pete Niederberger.Collection
