2003-329-01Description
A color photographic print developed from the slide of the corresponding number from Bewley Slide Collection. This photo shows the 1982 Allied Arts Rummage Sale set-up of the Sporting Goods Department. It was set up on the driveway in front of the present Historical Society Archival Room, which at the time was the storage room for the Community Center Inc. It shows volunteers setting up or selling the items. The shelves made of crates are 1/2 empty. There is a yellow "Sporting Goods" banner hanging from the eave of the storage room. A similar sign on the chapel basement wall reads, "BARGAIN BALCONY, a few steps up to save a lot." Furniture Department items visible on the left include a card table, cat carrier, folding canvas chair, ironing boards. The salesman, John Rusk, is about to put on his apron with JOHN printed on it. The Sporting Goods Department has wooden crutches, a gas can, ice skating shoes, and balls and hats among other boxed items. The "salesman" standing with his back to the camera is Bill Harkness. Two other men in hats stands by.Collection
