Description

Stinson Beach schoolhouse in 1921 was a wooden barn-looking structure with slanted roof and windows on south-facing side. The windows, which lift outward, are open. Beyond them there are a few steps up to a small porch with a door into the school house. There is also a small white door at the west-facing right corner of the building and similar opening at the very center top, beneath which is a Stinson Beach School sign. The ground surrounding the building is bare except for a few large rocks, perhaps demarking a pathway to the steps. A hill rises up beyond it. At the corner of the building a woman is standing with her hands in the pockets of her dark below-the-knee dress. She is identified on the back of the photo as Louise Avera. The date is Nov. 23, 1921.
