This black and white photograph taken 1926 shows Walter Sellmer, the son of inventor J P Sellmer, standing by a propeller of an aeroplane parked in its hanger. Walter Sellmer is wearing a light colored long sleeve shirt with darker colored pants with buckled belt. He has his right arm on his waist and left arm on the propeller shaft. The box-like plane fuselage is made of plywood and sign printed on (looks like) canvas material is wrapped around. It reads: "Just Hatched" at Camp Upton by the Sea by Sellmer Incubator. The continuous single flattened cigar-shaped wing made of wood and canvas lies flat on top of the fuselage. The propeller and the wing are painted in a darker color than the fuselage. The factory, or the hanger, has windows along the wall and shallow gable roof . The caption on the back, written in ball-point pen, reads: 1926 At Sellmers Aeroplane factory on Calle Del Ribera, Stinson Beach, Cal. Walter Sellmer - Son of J. P. Sellmer Inventor and Builder of Sport Planes and Gliders.
Walter is standing in front of "The Economy Aero plane" . Just Hatched at Upton by the Sea. Sing swings to lay parallel on top of fuselage for garage or street travel.Collection
