History of Bolinas and Stinson Beach from 1835 to Golden Gate Recreation Area of today (1973). Stories of lumberjacks, cattlemen, steamer and stagecoach with 42 pictures. Of the total 168 pages, first 94 pages are of the Bolinas history, the rest of the Stinson Beach history. Part I, History of the Bolinas includes; Rancho Baulenes land grant, the lumberjack who came for the redwood, Yankee moved in to stay, The Temperance Movement in the Gospel Flat, stagecoaches which brought the tourists, supplies and mail, Chinese road builders, merchants and innkeepers of boom and bust, the earthquake and the change, and the great oil spill.
Part II, History of Stinson Beach traces apple orchard farmers, tent cities, Thaddeus Welch and Steep Ravine, Nathan Stinson and his developments, the railroad plan to sandspit, Archie Upton, Newman Fitzhenry and Willow Camp, William Kent development and park purchases.
