Scope and Content

Ed first came to Stinson as a teenager on his bike from Mill Valley. Later he delivered milk to stores in West Marin and eventually bought the market from Bill Hoffman in 1970. He communted from Sonoma for 13 years before moving in Stinson in 1984. He talks of building his customer base, being the town "bank," his loyal employees (Florence Miller, Julie VonSavoy, and all the local kids), and customers who were friends (Joe Seligman, Hugh Doherty, Frenchy Gales and Edna Root). He describes a town connected by a handshake and goodwill. Ed is now a birdhouse artist selling to clients around the world.
