Scope and Content

Gertrude remembers coming to Stinson in 1941 and living at Seadowns. She recalls how is was then (family feeling in town) and what kind of over-the-hill transportation they had (the Woody station wagon). She recalls her theatrical experiences in Stinson and the 4th of July bathing beauty contests which raised funds for the Community Center to be built. She describes Stinson in the early days as "slow with a bit of excitement here and there," and how it was during the war years. She describes the businesses back then--and she worked in all of them--like the Surf Club, Christmas outdoors, and the "golden age" of Stinson.
