Scope and Content

Barbara has been coming to Stinson since infancy with her parents and later from San Geronimo Valley in the 1960-70s with her husband and children. They moved here in 1981 and her daughter Nancy got a job at the Parkside snack bar. After recounting a bit of Parkside history and anecdotes about Mame and Walt, Barb tells of how she bought the Parkside in 1982 after the flood. She recounts being trained by Bobby Stevens and how the Cafe operated as a "hangout" for locals after her son Bill took it over. She speaks of community feeling, people helping people, and her vision of affordable space. She remembers Eli, Matt, Jim and Ian; "holy" Joe, Ben and Peter, Agnes Bone and Lolly Landerbee. She finishes by talking of her creative side, Sharon Rowell, and politics.
