Description

Bob has been coming to Stinson since the 1950s when he bought property and bought the precursor to the Sand Dollar (Farallones East) and adjacent building (now Oceanic Realty) in 1967 with Al Engel. He relates the history of Elwoods and Chuck Hancock; the rise of property values in Seadrift and Highlands since 1946, including stories about William Kent and his "henchman" Jimmy Orr and Millie Neilsen. By giving back to the community, he and Al have made the new Library and Medical Clinic possible but laments what the community has lost in terms of spirit and character. Characters he has stories about include Jimmy Meyer, Hattie Green and Ruth Miller, Jack Richardson and Col. White. He relates a bit of history about many buildings: Dipsea Inn/Seadowns, the Old Hotel and the Laffalot. Finally we get stories of celebrities who frequented his bar The Glad Hand in Sausalito and those he sold property to in Stinson over the years.
