Description

Previously known as Shady Rest, 10 Willow (3 acres) was bought by the Stinson Beach Community Center through a generous donation by John Topham. The site had previously been a dairy, then junkyard. A fire destroyed the house on July 10, 2006 and an old barn remains. The site is across the creek from SBCC and allows for expansion of their services. As President of SBCC, Toby Bisson has lead an heroic effort to get the property cleared of toxic waste and fitted with utilities. Here the trench is built for utility lines. Unfortunately, due to the Covid Pandemic starting in 2020, there has been supply chain issues and materials cost has skyrocketed. The original estimate for make-ready work, trenching and laying the lines was about $8,000 but ended costing over $16,000 due to materials alone. Michael Mitchell, local architect, graciously did all drawing, planning and permits pro bono. Picnic tables on the right were donated by the Park District and have already been used for Bingo and Easter Egg Hunt.
