Scope and Content

This is an historical timeline of the Stinson Beach Music Scene 1960 to 2015 compiled by Peter Asmus with the information collected by SBHS members. The Music Scene described here is mainly Rock'n Roll with an emphasis on the Grateful Dead and other pop music luminaries who resided in Stinson (classical musicians are not included). This timeline was created as background information for the SBHS Annual fundraiser titled "Making Waves, Stinson Beach Music Scene 1960 to Present," held at Community Center on 9/12/15 with over 200 attendees. Simultaneously a modified exhibit of our musical history was on display in the historical corner of the Library, with an additional show on the main wall of the library that included photographs of the Grateful Dead by Peter Simon and enlarged images of some of the envelopes addressed to GOTOGD at Stinson Beach PO Box requesting tickets to the Dead's final show held at Soldier Stadium in Chicago.
