Scope and Content

The initial meeting was held on April 18, 1947 when Eve Stinson Fitzhenry listed her desires for and restrictions on her gift to the community and temporary offficers were named (Elting Hubbard, chairman, and Ruth Miller, secretary). The meeting on May 13, 1947 discussed the By-Laws. On June 6, 1947 By-Laws were amended and officers declared elected. Further amendments were made at future meetings, various community organizations were accepted as members of the Community Center, and committees were established. Over the next two years Lester Sadler was elected president, a 4th of July fundraising celebration came into being, in part to help with building the Firehouse, where the first Allied Arts rummage sale was held.
