This 43-page volume of paper was originally submitted to a Landscape Class the author was taking at University of Oregon in December of 1979. On the title page of the paper is typed: "Seadrift: An evolution of a wild sandspit to an exclusive second home site in West Marin County, California. Lucinda Kent, Understanding Landscape, December 1976". On top of this typed title there is a handwritten note and comment from the professor dated Jan 2, 1977. The contents trace the history of the area and the history of the Seadrift Development that includes her great grandfather's purchase of the sandspit, creation of the gated community by her grandfather and involvement of her father who inherited the project, and her experience growing up in it. This thesis has became the basis of the timeline prepared by the Seadrift Association later in 1980s to obtain the final settlement agreement from the County and the California Coastal Commission to keep the seawall erected during the 1983 storm.Collection
