Beach on Bolinas BayEntry/Object ID
1993-676-01Description
This sepia postcard depicts the sweep of the bay from a hillside to the southeast of Stinson Beach. In the right foreground there are two building roofs, one unfinished. Down on the beach on the left is a building with the painted sign of Van Osten's Casino (see the enlarged copy in Ken Shockey Collection, 2010-106), which later became Sea Downs. To the right of that can be seen several little roof peaks. Three with dark and light striped roofs are cottages of Sea Downs and several peaks to right are cottages of the Dipsea Lodge. To the right of the cottages is a building with a chimney. This is Dipsea Lodge itself. Bolinas ridge and point can be seen across the bay. Written in the lower left corner of the postcard is 'Where a dip in the Pacific Ocean is enjoyed, Stinson Beach, California'. Identifier number Zan 238 is also written on the lower right.Collection
