Description

Photographic print copy of black and white postcard taken by SBHS Staff from postcard collection of Jane Gipner who lives on Calle del Mar near Avenida Balboa. The postcard has caption on top, "Stinson Beach, Marin Co., Cal. from a Painting by Thad Welch." It shows a view from the White Gate Ranch overlooking Stinson Beach, including Bolinas, Point Reyes, Kent Island in the lagoon with pine trees, and Bolinas Lagoon with undulating shoreline (pre- Seadrift). There is a gatepost and fence (probably the boundary line fence between Rancho Briones and Rancho Sausalito, Spanish Grant) crossing the foreground with 3 cows grazing. Trail starts from left foreground leads down toward beach. No buildings are shown where town of Stinson, or Willow Camp, should have been.
