Scope and Content

18x24 inch poster was designed by Ken Shockey, a resident of Stinson Beach in 1989, for the Oakland Museum's California Wild Flower Show. It depicts a massive blooming field of California poppies in orange and lupine in blue with green leaves. The design on white is bordered and lettered by the same orange and blue colors. Ken Shockey was the husband of Bobby Shockey who was an original member of the Wildflower Show creators and taught at California Arts and Crafts College. The Wildflower show was started in Stinson Beach in 1958, held annually at the Community Center until 1971 when the event became too big to be held there and moved to the Oakland Museum. The same group of women continued to organize the show there until they retired.
