Scope and Content

There was a new president after nine years, Mr. Marble was out and Mr. Sadler was in. Mr. Marble was now 2nd vice-president. The main concern was the poor road condition at overhanging rocks. So bad that the students had to get out of the school bus and walk over it. The idea of transferring the church property was approved by the church leaders in S.F. Taxes were $4.53 a year. Garbage was still a problem and Mr. Wilson reported rats running through his property. Mr. Woodington was finally appointed Special deputy. Dredging Bolinas Lagoon was discussed and its use for defense was raised by Navy personnel. There was discussion of building a lifeguard tower at the site of the old Dipsea Lodge. There was also discussion of roads along the coast being fixed for defense. Mr. Marble was honored with life time membership for his ten years of service. Mrs. Grunert was also honored. Discussion of a Sausalito, Stinson, Bolinas Stage. Mr. Sunday addressed the Chair with a complain voiced by numerous residents on the Upton Tract involving the occupancy of the house of one H. Seigalkoff, by Japanese. The club voted to write the owner protesting this procedure. Concern about liquor licenses was raised. A rest room at the beach was completed. And the new tower had helped in the rescue of two swimmers. A reply from the owner of the property where orientals might have lived was that he would respect the club's wishes. Mr. Periera was concerned about the club's letter regarding liquor licenses. He has never created a problem. But the club remained concerned and wanted no proliferation. Talk from Air Raid Wardens under the Civil Defense Council. Posts every four miles with over 100,000 in the state. One here at Y gate, one on Bolinas Mesa, and one five miles north of Bolinas. Two people to watch at one time . End of the year, Pres. Sadler spoke of the lack of general interest in low attendance at regular meetings.
