Scope and Content

There were plans made for the July Carnival as a three day celebration with dance, and booths and a bathing beauty contest with the winner being known as Miss Marin. The events would culminate with fireworks . Discussion about Arenal Water Works charging more than Stinson Beach Water Works, hurting the growth of the Arenal area. The company denied these allegations. There were long discussions about new equipment and replacing worn out mains. Decided to set up zones of operation and automatic pressure regulating valves. Fire Chief Airey that there was money for fire hydrants in the Stinson Beach Highlands. Six inch mains were installed There were 119 members in the Progressive Club, sixty locals . The rest were out of town homeowners. Boy Scouts were being organized. Equipment for a playground that had never been started was given to the Scouts. It was decided to have a card party to raise money for the Boy Scouts and the Campfire Girls to send them to camp. Twice as much money was set for the boys. There was $350 in prizes for the July beauty contest. There was talk of getting a new fire siren. The July Celebration netted about $2000. Of money actually collected for summer camp, the amounts to boys and girls was about the same. The Fire Committee is ready to put up a tower for the new fire siren. Request for pedestrian walk from Airey's Store to the Stinson Beach School as 50 children will be on the road at one time. A 2 hour meeting with the Marin County Planning Commission on types of zoning and what the Planning commission has in mind for the future of Stinson Beach. It was decided that the residents would meet and talk among themselves as to what they would want. The choral group, the little theatre group, and the allied arts group were progressing nicely with the Christmas Pageant.
