Scope and Content

In 1952 there was a printed agenda for the meeting. Mrs. Cavanaugh gave a talk in behalf of the Cancer Society in regard to a nationwide survey which is being made in an attempt to determine whether smoking is a factor in causing cancer of the lungs. Talk of having a paved footpath up Calle Del Mar. Building of the Community Center was discussed. Mr. Sadler was in charge of the 4th of July Celebration with two nights of fireworks. The Annual Rummage Sale was discussed Sept. meeting was cancelled due to lack of a quorum. Meeting in Oct. was about the coming election and there were speakers for various candidates. Boy Scouts were in trouble due to lack of a Scout master. Talk of reducing speed through town and moving the 25 MPH sign. Developing a sewage system but the cost was prohibitive. Daniel O'Gorman and Shadow Helfrich agreed to serve as Scout masters. Due to the apathy of the citizenry of Stinson Beach, it was decided that the sponsoring of a Christmas tree with bonfire and refreshments will be bypassed by the Progressive Club this year.
