Scope and Content

Mr. Dougherty set up a standing Committee for streets and Highways with A.A. Eustis as chairman. There was also a Planning and Zoning Standing Committee. Ruth Miller was chair. Talk of a highway from The Forts to Muir Beach. Discussion of street lighting for Stinson. Concerns about roads on the Hill being in poor condition. Discussion of Civil Defense first aid stations, warning signals, shelter program, radiological Detecter Kits March was a panel discussion of school district unification about Tomales district high school, Kindergarten through high school. April there was a long discussion of the Dipsea race. It was much more complex with doctors, traffic diversion, bands, rest area. Etc. Audubon Society asked for Progressive Club support for prohibiting the discharge of firearms in the Bolinas Basin area. The Club feeling there were already laws covering this and they needed to be enforced refused to support the Society. Discussion of stop lights at Calle del Mar and feeling that it was too expensive. There was support for a bill limiting bill boards. Support for extending lease of Steep Ravine Cabins. Opposed to dredging Potato Patch because of affects on Marin beaches. The July Carnival was well in hand under Lester Sadler. Maude Stinson died and there was a memorial planned.
