A black and white post card sent by Mary Jones to her mother, Mrs Clay Chapman, dated 1931. The photo shows the downtown looking up the hill. On the lower left in white, it says Stinson Beach California; on right it says, SBC35. The buildings included in the photo are: Algar's enterprises, from the left front; 3 rental rooming houses . The right center with large Alger's sign was called SB Supply Co., and also housed the 2nd post office in the town. (The first one was located in the private home of Alice Alger's father.) On the very right, Jimmy Mayers grocery-deli store which still exists as an restaurant across the Highway . Behind Alger's, you can see the hillside cottages marching upward. Where it is circled with black is the cottage Mary and her husband spent their honeymoon. To right of it, the larger building is the Anchorage, a famous gathering place. The cottages on left were owned by the Airey's. The larger one on top of them is the Geranium Cottage, where Geneva Reinhardt, who was the last surviving granddaughter of Amos Stinson, lived until her death in early 1980's. On the lower margin of the postcard, Mary Jones wrote in pen, 1931 and Honeymoon 1931. The back of the card is damaged by glue. It is a note sent to her mother that reads: Love to Daddy + Nancy+Hello mama and ---(illegible)--love Suzanne.
I went up on the porch of the wrong house as they all look alike and started shaking the sand and go in-----(illegible)---the house. I was soaked to ----(Illegible).
