Stoney Creek Library Second Street NorthDescription
Stoney Creek Library, Second Street North was constructed in 1959. Prior to this, the library was housed in various private homes including Lorne and Flora Weedmark's home on 30 King St. When it was sold Joseph Piott, provided a small frame building on the creek bank rent free. It was later moved to a basement room in Holt's Drug Store. In 1958 it was decided a permanent library building was needed. A site was found on Second St N and the land was donated by Don McLeod and the Hydro Electric Commission. It was built at a cost of $19,000. The new library saw it's circulation double in the first year.
The Stoney Creek Library was relocated to it's current location at The Stoney Creek Municipal Centre at 777 Highway #8 in 2003 and amalgamated with the Winona branch at this time.
