Nurse's dress part of an Augustana Student Nurse Uniform. The dress is composed of white and blue-gray horizontal and vertical stripes with an area of beige at the lower end of each sleeve and an attached beige apron with six vertical seams, four horizontal seams, and the inscription, "Miss E. Christensen" written in black letters.Context
Augustana School of Nursing opened in 1894 at 480 Cleveland Avenue to train nurses of Scandinavian descent. The school first admitted non-Scandinavian students to the training program in 1905. By the time it closed in 1989, Augustana graduated over 3,000 nurses.Acquisition
