Description

Belt part of a Swedish folk costume (folkdräkt) from Skön, Västernorrland. Red leather and cotton belt decorated with stitchings of blue, yellow, and green 'X's,' blue and green shapes which are crosses between squares and triangles, two green star-shaped flowers, and a blue star-shaped flower. One end of the belt is decorated with a red heart shape while two parts of a tan belt strap are attached to the item, one of which is on the front and the other of which is on the back.

Context

The folk dress was owned by Margareta Eriksson Backlund who lived from 1898 until around 1969. She arrived in the U.S. in 1927.
