Description

Green, plastic Lucia crown with five round inserts for candles. The crown is decorated with a red ribbon of synthetic material and green leaves made of plastic. Five white candles with round white plastic inserts fit into the somewhat wider and deeper green candle inserts.

Context

Lucia Day is a holiday that is celebrated on December 13th annually in Sweden. It is a Christian feast day that commemorates the martyr Saint Lucia. The celebration consists of a procession, led by someone playing Saint Lucia whose defining feature is a glowing crown full of candles. Traditional songs are sung and treats are passed out, it is a beautiful ceremony with a rich tradition of spreading cheer.
