PROPS2023.1.1Description
Organic cotton and flax table runner made by Swedish weaving company Ekelund Weavers in Horred, Sweden. The design was commissioned by the Swedish American Museum to be sold in the Museum store in relation to the opening of the permanent exhibit We Are America in 2024. The design features the immigration house in Gothenburg, a Swedish American Line ship, Ellis Island, and the building of the Swedish American Museum on 5211 N Clark St. The design is intended to follow a typical immigrant journey from Sweden to the United States in the early 1900s. Museum staff and volunteers were involved in deciding the final design. The table runner reads "We Are America" and "Swedish American Museum" and is mainly sky blue with a navy blue border with yellow text and yellow leaves. Rosemaling elements separate each building or ship. This table runner is a sample that was produced in 2023.Acquisition
