Context

Emilia Larson was born in Sweden in 1871 and immigrated to the United States in 1893. In 1898, she married Simon Larson, another Swedish immigrant, born in 1858. Their first and second sons were born in Chicago in 1898 and 1900, but in 1902, the family moved back to Sweden, where their daughter Anna was born in 1903. In 1905, they returned to Chicago and their final child, Harry, was born that same year. From 1906-1923, the family lived at 3245 Herndon Street, which is now 3245 N Lakewood Avenue. Simon Larson died in 1916 and was buried in Rosehill Cemetery. Emilia Larson bought 1645 Olive Avenue in 1923 and was regarded by her family to be the first woman homeowner in Andersonville. She died in 1937 and was buried next to her husband. The eldest son, Albert, never married and was the primary person responsible for handling Emilia's finances and estate. When the Larson family sold 1645 Olive Ave in 1945, all seven of Emilia's children and children-in-law signed the sales contract: Albert Y. Larson, Harry E. Larson, his wife Irene Larson, Oscar W. Larson, his wife Lucy Larson, Anna E. Anderson, and her husband Axel I. Anderson.
