Description

Svithiod Singing Club of Chicago pin. Blue background and yellow printing. The center shows the club's symbol, a harp with the letters SSC entwined. Around the edge are the words "Svithiod Singing Club Chicago." Dated circa 1940.

Context

Part of the Independent Order of Svithiod, the Svithiod Singing Club (1893-1980) was a male chorus which performed musicals and entertained at parades, picnics, and a variety of singing competitions. The Ladies Associate Club, later the Ladies’ Guild, assisted in raising funds for the Svithiod Singing Club by participating in festivals and held a yearly event called the Värnamo Market.
