Context

Hilding Mickelsson (1919-2002) was primarily a nature photographer, and has earned much renown and acclaim for this work. It appears that he did a few paintings, but these are few and little recognized. He was born in Hälsingland and lived there his whole life. The painting has a typed sheet attached to the back indicating that the painting was given by the Hälsingland Good Templars District Lodge to Editor in Chief, E. Einar Andersson (of Chicago) in recognition of his work on behalf of the Good Templar organization in the United States in 1946.
