Hat part of a Swedish folk costume (folkdräkt) from Skön, Västernorrland. Largely beige with a rounded and largely brownish-tan upper section decorated with red, white, orange, blue, and yellow flowers, many of which have centers which are blue, yellow, or combinations of these colors. The hat is protected with a tan covering made of lace and decorated with cut-outs of trapezoid-like shapes.Context
The folk dress was owned by Margareta Eriksson Backlund who lived from 1898 until around 1969. She arrived in the U.S. in 1927.Acquisition
