Traveling reed organ, case beneath keyboard to fit organ. Six holes in front. Two pedals and a stand above the keyboard for sheet music. Was used by J.A. Hultman while on tour. The organ has the inscription, "An Organ Used by J.A. Hultman. "The Sunshine Singer on His Tours."' on the board while the organ itself has the inscription, 'World Famous Folding Organ. This traveling reed organ belonged to Swedish evangelist and singer Johannes Alfred Hultman. Hultman immigrated to Iowa from Småland, Sweden in 1869. He studied for two years at the Chicago Athenaeum and in 1889, then joined the Swedish theologian Paul Petter Waldenström on a tour around the United States, preaching and singing with his foldable organ in toe. Hultman was one of the founders of the Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Chicago.Acquisition
