Collection of documents from the trunk of Gunhild Anna Charlotte Malm Erickson that includes a purple heart-shaped box, three hand chisels, confirmation "Konfirmationsminne" cards, playbills to Park Opera House, playbills to three other theatres, three telegrams, a picture book of Tranås and Salvation Army Band, a book of expenses, mini booklet entitled "Love and Friendship," Kodak camera instruction manual, postcards, photographs of Reliable Service Station, blank Reliable Service Station account lists, advertising papers, and a picture book of Stockholm.

Context

Gunhild Anna Charlotte Malm Erickson was born in Malmö, Sweden in 1895. She was 15 years old in 1910 when she immigrated to America by herself and joined her brother Martin in Chicago. Erickson worked as a maid in various wealthy homes but did not enjoy this job. To pave the way to a new life, she attended business school and later opened an automobile service station with her husband Erik.
