Context
Augustana School of Nursing opened in 1894 at 480 Cleveland Avenue to train nurses of Scandinavian descent. The school first admitted non-Scandinavian students to the training program in 1905. By the time it closed in 1989, Augustana graduated over 3,000 nurses.
