Description

Large, tan woven straw basket.

Context

The basket was made by Mrs. Barbro Svensson for Halmens Hus in Bengtsfors, Sweden. Svensson is a third-generation straw craftswoman from Flatan in Ärtemark, Dalsland. The straw that's used for the basket is made from an older type of rye that's made to grow on burnt soil and that's produced today by very few farmers, mainly for straw-craft.
