Founded in Chicago in 1915, the Scandinavian Fraternity of America (SFA) brought together three previous organizations into one group. The SFA united people of Scandinavian heritage to overcome political differences between the Nordic countries and promote “the best qualities of citizenship”. The SFA provided health and life insurance, and unemployment benefits to its members, as well as hosting social activities Both men and women, including their non-Scandinavian spouses, were able to join. The SFA disbanded in 1992.Acquisition
