This chair was made in Sweden by Frederic Johanson as his "Gesällprov," an apprentice carpenter's final project to prove his trade education was finished and he was ready to become a full tradesman. Johanson emigrated from Sweden to Chicago in 1900 and worked as a finisher on many building interiors in the Halsted area of Chicago.Acquisition
