Description

Trunk or chest. Black with green metal with wooden slats or strips. There is a hump-back on the trunk. Paper lined interior with small compartment painted red with a hinged door closure. Metal trim and handles on short sides. The chest used to have two leather handles. The front has two small latches and a large, ornate keyhole plate in the center while two wood bands wrap horizontally around the main part.

Context

This trunk was owned by August Hanson who came from Kristinehamn-Stockholm and immigrated to Chicago. August worked as a plasterer/contractor in Chicago.
