The Swedish Bakery opened in the late 1920s by a Swedish immigrant family. Throughout the 20th century, ownership changed hands multiple times until 1971 when Marlies Stanton, a pastry chef at the bakery, bought it. Although the Stanton family is German and Greek, Marlies continued to cater to the Swedish and Andersonville community until closing in 2017. Signature items included mazariner (almond tart), toscas (almond cake), the prinsesstårta (princess torte), homemade chocolate ganache, cardamom bread, limpa (rye) bread, and the Andersonville coffee cake.Acquisition
