Framed print with an original drawing by the artist, Rolf Lidberg, on the back. Three troll-like figures, one of whom is a man wearing a white shirt, gray and black short pants, and a brown jacket, a woman wearing a purple blouse, a red shawl, a pine green skirt, a white apron with thin yellow vertical stripes, a white headscarf, and whiteish-gray shoes, and a blond child troll. The man and the child are in a winding blue and white river with an area of green bushes. The man appears to be ready to pick up the child while the woman is sitting on a log on the shoreline, knitting a gray scarf. In the distance is a blue sky with clouds. The back of the print shows a drawing by the artist, Rolf Lidberg. It consists of a black and beige sketching of a large troll-like figure of a man and a large bush, an inscription that reads "Greetings from Rolf Lidberg", and an inscription that reads "R-87." Wooden frame in reddish-brown color with an inner section of copperish gold-colored metal.Context
Rolf Lidberg was born in 1930 in Liden, Sweden. Lidberg was an artist and botanist, best known for his illustrations, lithographs, watercolor paintings, and children’s books. In his illustrations and paintings, he creates trolls that were very humanlike pictured in nature. His books consisted of similar Illustrations of trolls and had been translated to 12 different languages and enjoyed by children around the world. Folk tales of trolls heavily influenced the work of Lidberg.Acquisition
