Carl Gustaf Nelson was a painter, teacher and graphic artist born in Hörby, Sweden in 1898. He immigrated to the United States as a young child. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1921, he graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago. He continued his studies at the Art Students League in New York from 1923-1927. Nelson taught at several institutions during his long career, including serving as an art instructor at the Sioux City Society of Fine Arts. Nelson is known for his landscape paintings and his use of colors. He worked in several mediums, including oil and linoleum cuts. Nelson passed away in 1988.Acquisition
